Kolkata: A film and television director, allegedly driving in an unnatural kingdom, crashed in a crowded area in Thakurpukur, Kolkata on Sunday morning, one person died and seriously injured.
Angry locals barbarized the car, took out the accused, Siddhant Das (35), and threw it until the police arrived. He was arrested and later produced before an Alipore court, which sent him to police custody till 10 April.
Police also detained a woman. Another woman, who was on the back seat, ran away, he said.
Police said the incident took place around 9 am when Das came from Bakharat and moved towards Gariahat, lost control of his SUV and went straight into a movement market. An Aminur Rahman (63), who was selling vegetables, faced several injuries. He was rushed to a hospital, where he succumbed due to injuries.
Police confirmed that the slave was drunk at the time of the accident and four bottles of liquor were found in his vehicle.
