Amidst the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine, a warehouse belonging to an Indian pharmaceutical company was allegedly described by a Russian missile in Ukraine on Saturday as a “intentional attack” in India by the Ukrainian Embassy.

What happened?
The Ukrainian Embassy in India said on Saturday that a Russian missile killed the warehouse Kusum HealthcareAn Indian pharmaceutical company is working in Ukraine.
The Ukrainian Embassy said in a post on X, “Today, a Russian missile hit the warehouse of Indian pharmaceutical company Kusum in Ukraine.”
In the same post, the embassy said: “Claiming ‘special friendship’ with India, Moscow deliberately targeted Indian businesses – destroying medicines for children and elderly.”
So far, no additional details have been shared about damage or casualties from the strike.
Indian and Russian governments have not yet been commented on the matter.
UK Ambassador to Ukraine Martin Harris also claimed that the Russian strike destroyed the “warehouse of pharma in Kiev”. However, his post did not mention whether the warehouse belonged to Kusum and also said that the attack was carried out by Russian drone and not the missile.
What is the reaction of the Indian and the Russian government?
Governments of India and Russia have not yet issued any statement regarding the incident.
Meanwhile, the British Ambassador to Ukraine, Martin Harris, also stated that the Russian strike had destroyed the “warehouse of a major pharma in Kiev”. However, he did not specify whether the warehouse belonged to Kusum Healthcare. He also mentioned that the attack was carried out using Russian drones and not the missile.
“This morning Russian drone completely destroyed a major pharmaceutical warehouse in Kiev, provoked shares of drugs required by the elderly and children. Russia’s terror campaign against Ukrainian citizens continues,” Mr. Martin said in a post on X.
Kusum healthcare presence in Ukraine
According to its official website, the headquarters in Delhi, Kusum Healthcare operates in 29 countries, including Ukraine, Moldova, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Ivory Coast, Benin, Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Nizer, Cameron, Mali and Tanjania.
The company is one of several Indian firms with a commercial appearance in Ukraine, especially in the drug field.
The struggle continues despite the ceasefire talks
Since Russia attacked Ukraine in February 2022, the two countries continued the exchange of attacks. Although they agreed to prevent each other from targeting the energy facilities of each month, each side accused of violating the agreement.
India has said that dialogue is the only way for peace and it has not taken sides in conflict, even having good relations with both Kiev and Moscow.
In a podcast interview with Laks Fridman last month, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that he would urge the presidents of the two countries to take a peaceful resolution, saying that “I can sit with (Russian) President (Russian) President (Vladimir) Putin and say that it is not a war time. There is a resolution on the battlefield.”
Despite the ongoing struggle, India has continued to buy large amounts of oil from Russia, which is available at concessional rates due to Western sanctions and reducing demand from Europe. Russia remains as India’s top oil supplier, India imported a 1.67 million BPD below 1.67 million BPD in January from Russia to 1.48 million barrels of crude oil (BPD) from Russia.
