2-Day TN Visit: PM Modi prays at Chola Temple; Roadshow Holds in Gangikonda Cholpuram | Bharat News

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday participated in the birth anniversary of the birth anniversary of Chola Emperor Rajendra Chola with the Audi Tiruvithirai Festival at Gangikonda Cholapuram Temple in Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu.During a two-day visit to Tamil Nadu, the Prime Minister offered prayers at the Lord Brehdeshwar Temple of Chola-era amid the mantras of Vedic and Savit Thirumurai.PM Modi brought a ‘Kalasam’ (metal pot) with traditional decorations, which is believed to have water from the Ganges river.Wearing in a dhoti (dhoti), white shirt and Angavasthram, wearing around the neck, the Prime Minister crossed the internal corridor of the temple, a part of the great living Chola temples, a UNESCO heritage site. He also prayed by conducting “Deeparathanai”.The PM also visited an exhibition organized by the Archaeological Survey of India on Chola Shaivism and Architecture.Earlier in the day, PM Modi also organized a roadshow in Gangikonda Cholpuram after his arrival.During the roadsho, the Prime Minister was standing on the ongoing board of his vehicle and waved those who were rowed on both sides of the road.Gangikonda Cholpuram was a ‘Victory City’ built by Rajendra Chola after its victorious maritime campaign in Southeast Asia about 1,000 years ago.Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a roadshow on Sunday on Sunday, which was immediately after his arrival to preside over a ceremony to mark the birth anniversary of the prestigious Chola Raja Rajendra Chola-I.

Under his reign, the Chola Empire increased its influence in South and Southeast Asia. Following his victorious military operations, he established Gangikonda Cholpuram as the royal capital. The grand temple he built became a symbol of Shiva devotion, architectural talent and administrative excellence, which served as a spiritual and cultural center for more than 250 years.The regions of Rajendra consisted of coastal Burma, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep and Maldives, and he conquered Srivijaya (Sumatra, Java, and Malaya in Southeast Asia) and Kinges of Pegu Islands with their fleet. He defeated Pal King Mahipala of Bengal and Bihar.
