New Delhi: The death of a 9 -year -old Dalit girl after a brutal rape in Muzaffarpur, Bihar has created resentment across the country. As the allegations of medical negligence and administrative failure are revealed, here are 10 things to know about the case that have inspired intervention from NHRC, NCW and national leaders:1. Cruel attack on a 9 -year -old girl in MuzaffarpurOn 26 May, the minor girl was allegedly lured with chocolate near her aunt’s house and was taken to a maize ground where she was raped and physically attacked. He maintained severe neck and internal injuries.2. Patna referred after preliminary treatmentHe was first admitted to Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital (SKMCH) at Muzaffarpur. Due to his serious condition, he was sent to Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) on 30 May.3. Left in an ambulance for hours in PMCHAccording to his uncle, the child waited for 2-3 hours inside an ambulance outside the PMCH before being admitted. Despite his condition, proper care was allegedly delayed, and the family claims that he was accepted only after raising a ruckus.4. Allegations of negligence and overgrowthThe family alleged that the doctors gave their hair through the night, and died the next morning. He also claimed that he would have to spend Rs 25,000 in a government hospital.5. NHRC issues notice, calls it a violation of human rightsThe National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) took Suo Motu Cognizance and issued notices to Chief Secretary and Bihar’s DGP, calling the incident a violation of serious human rights. A detailed report has been sought within two weeks.6. NCW demands immediate action, cites ‘systemic failures’National Commission for Women (NCW) chairperson Vijaya Reliefkar also took Suo Motu Cognizance, demanded an inquiry into the role of hospital officials and police, and called the delay in treatment as “gross negligence”.7.
