3 Indians are killed in death in Indonesia: Delhi HC Conscomulation directs Meya to work

New Delhi: Delhi High Court directed on Friday Indian Consulate in Indonesia To take immediate steps to ensure proper legal representation and assistance for three Indian citizens sentenced to death By an Indonesian court.
The court also directed the consulate to help the convenience of communication between men and their families convicted in India.
The direction came in response to a petition filed by the wives of three men – Raju MuthukumaranSelvadurai Dinakaran, and Govindasamy Vimalakandhan, who were sentenced to death for drug related offenses by the Tanjung Balai Karimun District Court on 25 April 2025.
The petitioners claim that they were working in a shipyard in Indonesia at the time of their arrest, they are the only grossing for their families and lack of financial instruments to carry forward the appeal.
Hearing the matter, Justice Sachin Dutta asked the Ministry of External Affairs (Mea) diplomatically to protect the rights of Indian citizens under any relevant international conferences or bilateral agreements with the Indonesian government.
Mea’s permanent lawyer, Advocate Ashish Dixit accepted the notice from the ministry and sought time to get further instructions.
Given the tough time limit to file an appeal in Indonesia, the petitioners requested immediate legal aid to prevent irreversible results.
The High Court has listed the case for further hearing on 6 May 2025.
