For a public broadcasting (CPB) to a pillar of American media for nearly six decades, it announced on Friday that it would begin a formal shutdown process after full loss of federal funding by the Trump administration. The Congress decided after defending $ 1.1 billion in appropriation for the next two budget years, effectively ended the lifeline of the organization.CPB President and CEO Petricia Harrison said, “This is the end of a historic era in which public broadcasting has played an essential role in shaping the cultural and educational landscape of America.” He said, “Despite the extraordinary efforts of millions of Americans, who called, written, written, written, written, written, written, and filed a petition, now we face the difficult reality to shut down our operations,” he said as cited by AP.The move was operated by US President Trump, who has long targeted public broadcasting, labeled the CPB as a “demonic” labeled and promoting cultural and political narratives, which they consider to be “United Nations-American”. His administration has also discontinued publicly funded media institutions including Voice of America, and in April, Trump rejected three CPB board members, which he had described as a politically motivated overache. The Senate Appropriation Committee on Thursday strengthened funding cuts except for CPB from its annual budget bill for the first time in more than 50 years. Democratic MPs made a final push to restore funding, but the effort decreased. The senator Tami Baldwin (D-Vice) offered, then withdrawn an amendment to restore the fund, stating that she would continue to work to fix it before the disastrous results., In response, Senator Shelley Moore Capito (RW.VA.) said, “We prosecuted it two weeks ago. Adopting this amendment would be contrary to us to vote in advance.”
