71 WB Medical Colleges issued notice on faculty in 2 years, Infra Issues: Government in Rs. Bharat News

New Delhi: The National Medical Commission (NMC) has issued a notice notice to both 71 medical colleges, government and private in West Bengal, after a decrease in relation to faculty, infrastructure and other clinical parameters, the government told the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday.In a written reply to a Parliament question, Anupriya Patel, Minister of State in the Ministry of Health, said that notices were issued in 34 medical college-government and private-educational year 2024-25 and 37 others (Govt and private) notices were issued in academic years 2025-26.Accordingly, for the educational year 2024-25, according to the nature of the deficiencies, monetary punishment was also imposed on these colleges and for the academic year 2025-26 based on the compliance reports submitted by these colleges, conditional renewal of MBBS seats has been provided, Patel said. He said that Sanjiban Hospital and Medical College in West Bengal have been quoted for operation without necessary approval from NMC and on May 19, an advisory note was issued in the case.In addition, he said, NMC’s Post Graduate Medical Education Board (PGMEB) also examined the recognition/ renewal of recognition applications for the year 2022, mainly related to faculty, infrastructure, reducing the number of seats for the academic year for 2024-25, and visited the deficiencies. And predecessor post graduate medical education regulation, (PGMER-20000).The Minister of State in the Ministry of Health said that NMC’s undergraduate Medical Education Board (UGMEB) has also issued all concerned stakeholders against unauthorized medical colleges working in the country, who offer recognition and offer admission to medical courses without the need to mislead NMC and students and parents and parents.
