The protests intensified on Saturday when police lathi-charged protesters demanded the arrest of the MLA.
Rathore said that Balmukundacharya apologized and clarified his position. “I instructed him to prioritize peace and public spirit,” Rathore said, saying that the BJP “respects all religions and their places of worship” and advises against politicizing the matter.
He said, “Good governance cannot be without unity. We reminded our representatives that it is his most important duty to promote peace and harmony,” he said, while Congress MLAs Rafake Khan and Amin Kagji urged to work to calm down.
MLA Khan of Adarsh Nagar welcomed Rathore’s action. He said, “I welcome your call that he reprimanded him for the tasks that weaken the dignity of a public representative,” he said, saying that all elected representatives should work to maintain peace and harmony.
