New Delhi: The National Medical Commission (NMC) has directed immediate suspension of 26 MBBS students. Sources said that action has been initiated against students based on the findings of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which is investigating cases related to NEET UG 2024 examination. “Given the severity of these violations and their ability to reduce the credibility of the medical education system, the NMC has issued instructions to the concerned medical colleges and institutions to immediately suspend students of 26 MBBS,” said a source.

Medical students misconduct a threat to public trust: official
In addition, the source said, 14 more students have been canceled for AY 2024-25, who were found to be included in unfair practices during the NEET UG 2024 examination. An NMC official said that such malpractices not only compromise the sanctity of the examination process, but also a direct threat to medical education and public trust standards.
The NEET-AG exam 2024, which is conducted to determine eligibility for graduate medical programs, turned into a dispute due to an alleged paper leak. There are about 1.20 lakh graduate medical seats in government and private medical colleges in the country. Last year, more than 23 lakh students appeared for the NEET -UG exam held on 5 May. The results of the examination were declared on 4 June. It was found that more than 67 students had scored a correct score of 720 points, which was suspected because only some students were able to get the right score in the previous years – a huge contradiction and leading for investigation.
