The Press Information Bureau (PIB) Fact-check unit debunted a series of viral videos, claiming that Pakistan has started attacking Indian Air Force bases in Udhampur and Nagota air base in Jammu and Kashmir.This clarified that the videos displaying the damage were old and unrelated to the ongoing tension between India and Pakistan.In a video aired on Pakistani channel ‘Aik News’, he alleged that Udhampur Air Base was “destroyed.” The clip was widely aired on social media, causing nervousness among the citizens.However, the PIB Fact Czech team clarified that the footage in the question is not related to any military action. The bureau posted on X posted, “This video is being shared, with a fire incident in a chemical factory in Hanumangar, Rajasthan. It has nothing to do with the current India -Pakistan situation.”Another viral clip, which was round, claimed to show attack on the Nagrota Air Base. However, also, fake reports were made by the agency, clarifying that it was originally posted back to Instagram in October 2024.The PIB warns, “There is a clear attempt to spread nervousness by broadcasting misleading scenes. Users are strongly advised not to fall for such disintegration.”The government’s fact checking agency also said that the recent bounce in fake news on social media feed is not casual, but Pakistan’s promotional network is trying to manipulate Indian citizens.“Beware of the Indian armed forces or suspicious videos related to the ongoing situation. These are the major equipment of malicious manipulation.”It urged the people to be vigilant and asked them to verify the information before sharing and forwarding them.“Fire or misleading materials can do more harm than good.”There is a wave of misinformation on social media platforms as tension between the two countries has increased. Fake alerts urge people to disable location services, an S -400 air defense system’s destruction, baseless claims and 70% of the nationwide power grid rumors, roaming online among other rumors.These tension arose on May 7 after India’s accurate attacks in terrorist camps in 9 terrorist camps in Pakistan and Poke.
