New Delhi: In a major success, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Sunday arrested a prominent Khalistani operative in the 2022 Khalistani terror conspiracy case.Khalistani operative, Kashmir Singh Galvadi Ludhiana, Punjab, is associated with foreign-based Babbar Khalsa Terrorist Harvinder Singh Sandhu alias Rinda, news agency PTI quoted NIA officials.Galvadi was arrested from Motihari, Bihar in coordination with the local police. According to Nia, she is a “rigid criminal” and is one of the six people who ran away from a jail in Nabha, Punjab in 2016.The anti-terrorism agency further stated that since Nabha exits jail, Kashmir Singh had “actively associated” with Khalistani terrorists, including Rinda. The former NIA was a declared criminal, who provides refuge for his role, related to joining the conspiracy, providing shelter, logistics support and terror funds to colleagues of Khalistani terrorists.These associates fled to Nepal after carrying out various terrorist activities in India, including rocket-propelled grenade attack at the Punjab Police Intelligence Headquarters in Mohali in May 2022.A special NIA court in Delhi declared Kashmir Singh a declared criminal in the 2022 terror conspiracy case and issued a non-essential arrest warrant against him in the last two years.A cash prize of Rs 10 lakh was also announced by the NIA for the leading information for his arrest.2022 Khalistan terror conspiracy casesIn August 2022, the NIA had registered the terrorist conspiracy case Suu Moto, which was to investigate terrorist activities and terrorist activities of members of major terrorist organizations such as Babbar Khalsa, Khalistan Liberation Force and International Sikh Youth Federation.The investigation highlighted a terrorist-criminal nexus, suggesting that these groups were engaged in smuggling of terrorist hardware like arms, ammunition, IEDs, etc. from the border for terrorist activities in various parts of the country, along with organized criminal gangs, in various parts of the country.In July 2023, the Anti-Terrorism Agency charged the nine accused Sandhu and another Khalistani terrorist, Lakhbir Singh alias Lanta, four accused in the terrorist case after two supplementary chargesheet against six other people.In August 2024, the NIA successfully received the extradition of Landa’s brother Tarsem Singh from UAE and filed a third supplementary charge sheet in December.
