Depardieu found guilty of sexual harassment, 18 months suspended sentence

Paris: French film star Gerrard Depardyu was convicted by the Paris court on Tuesday for sexual harassment of two women working on the set of a film in which he was acting in 2021. He was sentenced to 18 months suspended, and his name will be added to the National Sex Offender Registry. The judge also ruled that one of the two victims and one in 14,040 euros pays a loss of 15,000 euros (about $ 17,000), including his medical fee. Depardieu was not in court. His lawyer, Jeremy Asas, said he would appeal. The decision was welcomed by the victims’ lawyers as a historic victory for French women in the #MeToo world. “For me, this is a win, in fact,” one of the two victims said, only his first name, was recognized by Amelie. “We are moving forward.”His lawyer, Carine Dureu Diabolt, said he hoped that the ruling would mean “End of impurities for actors in the film industry.” “I have heard some actors recently supporting Depardieu. Now with this decision, no one can say that Gerard Depardyu is not a sexual hunter.”Both the victims worked on “Less Whats Warts”, which has worked in the 2021 French film as Depardyu – Amelie, as a set decorator, and as other plains, who have not agreed to publicly identify as an assistant director. The court heard that 76 -year -old Depardieu caught Ameli from the waist and pulled him on the set while sitting down. He then closed her between her legs and drove her hands on her buttocks, genitals and breasts, while provoking vulgarity. The 34 -year -old assistant director testified that the actor had touched his breasts and buttocks on three occasions on the set.The judge called his version coherent, consistent and supported by other evidence. 76 -year -old Depardyu denied attacks in both cases. He said that he was “porn, rude, garbage person who makes fun of people” which he was painted in the media. But he said that he was from a different generation and his fiery and unpublished personality was ill for the present era. From the beginning, it was clear that the trial was about more than two sexual attacks by one of France’s most famous film stars. What happened in court, instead, was part of a long overdue about the passion of the country, with the temptation, about the stalling of the unwanted political adorable and the #MeToo movement in France. More than 20 women have accused Depardyu of sexual abuse. Those who have run to protect Depardiyu are President Emmanuel Macron, who called “Mancent” against the actor. Depardieu’s lawyers almost became the subject of debate as their customer. He called the plaintiff a liar, saying that no one was a “real hunting”. The court ruled that women suffered a “secondary victim” from Asuchi conduct and were awarded 1,000 euros as part of the disadvantage.
