When Subhash Ghai asked for interest, Sanjeev Kumar helped Shatrughan Sinha for Rs 10 lakh: ‘I don’t like to beg anyone’

In the bright world of Bollywood, it is easy to believe that all stars lead a life of fame and luck. But even the biggest names have gone through a difficult time. One such story comes from experienced actor Shatrughan Sinha, who was once in such a deep financial trouble that he considered selling his house. This low-term chapter of his life has emerged in his biography ‘anything but silent’, where he openly speaks how things had become so bad that he was ready to leave his flat, until a kind friend of the same Bollywood friend did not step to help him. When everything was fallingIn the 1980s, Shatrughan Sinha was one of the most popular stars in the country. Nevertheless, there was a time when he needed 10 lakh rupees immediately and he did not go anywhere. He said, “I am very self-respecting and do not like to beg for anything,” he said in the book.Thinking of selling his flat, he turned to his wife, Poonam Sinha, who strongly opposed the idea. Still needed money, he decided to ask filmmaker Subhash Gai for help. But instead of offering a helping hand, Gai made it clear that anyone would come with a loan string. “You have to pay me interest on him,” he told Shatrughan. This reaction disappointed the actor, but thankfully someone else was watching.A calm but powerful gestureIt was Sanjeev Kumar, who was a respected actor, known for films like ‘Khilona’, ‘Prayas’, and ‘Yehi Hai Zindagi’ – who saw something wrong. He saw stress on Shatrughan’s face and asked what he was bothering him. That moment became a significant turn. As the ‘Vishwanath’ Actor Recalled, “My Friend, Philosopher and Guide Called Sanjeev Kumar who is no more, Saw me looking pencive and anxious and asked me What the matter was. He merely asked me when I would be able to return it.The next morning, help came in an unexpected manner.A ‘video cassette’ full of hopeSinha had a knock at the door, and Sanjeev’s secretary went to Jamnadasji. What he did not seem special, just wrapped in a newspaper. “Jamnadasji came with something wrapped in a newspaper and said,” Bhai (sir) has sent you a video cassette. There was no video cassette inside, but I got the amount wrapped in it, which I needed. Sanjeev Kumar sent it without telling it. “The thoughtful gesture touched Shatrughan deeply. But whether he was moved even more, when asked about interest, Sanjeev’s response was, “Where is the question of interest among friends?”Heart -loadShatrughan agreed to return the money “when enabled”, and Sanjeev never pressured him. Over time, whenever he asked, he gave back the small portion. But even today, Shatrughan admits that the entire amount may not have been returned. “Some amount is still pending. But once he died, whose money could I give? His property was torn.” These words not only show his honesty, but also shows deep regrets of not being able to repay a friend who did not be able to repay fully, who helped him without any question.Who was Sanjeev Kumar?Sanjeev Kumar, who made his main debut in 1965 with ‘Nishan’, was a successful career for about 25 years.
