Chandigarh: A travel blogger and Utubar, Jyoti Malhotra were arrested by the Civil Lines Police in Hisar on Saturday for spying for Pakistan.He maintained regular contact with Pakistani intelligence operators and shared sensitive information with them using platforms such as WhatsApp, Telegram and Snapchat. Jyoti, which runs a Youtube channel under the name of Desi-Indo-was often visiting several countries including Pakistan.He was tasked by his handlers to portray a positive image of Pakistan through his social media content. During interrogation, he claimed that he was chosen as part of a delegation in Pakistan in 2023. According to the FIR, during his visit, she met a person named Ahsan-ur-Rahim alias Danish and continued to keep in touch even after returning to India through WhatsApp and other messaging apps. On the second visit to Pakistan on Ahsan’s suggestion, she came in contact with another person, Ali Ahsan, who introduced her to the members of Pakistan’s intelligence and security establishment. This is during this period, Jyoti began sharing information considered sensitive in nature, with her Pakistani contacts.He admitted to save his contact numbers under misleading names to avoid raising doubts, a trick investigators believe that there was a deliberate attempt to hide their conversation with Pakistani intelligence operators (PIOs). He accepted to share sensitive details with them to avoid detection and save their contacts under misleading names. Officials said that he has a continuous connection to violations under the official Raj Act with Pakistani intelligence operators and threatens national security.
