New Delhi: The condition of Covid-19 in India was under control and health officials closely monitored cases of increase in cases in Hong Kong and Singapore, PTI on Monday cited official sources.An official source said, “The meeting concluded that the existing Covid-19 in India is under control. As of May 19, 2025, the number of Covid-19 cases active in India is 257, considering the country’s large population, considering a very low figure.”“Almost all of these cases are light, in which no one needs to be hospitalized,” he said.The review meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Director General of Health Services, in which experts from the National Center for Disease Control, Emergency Medical Relief Division, Disaster Management Cell, Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and head central government hospitals were brought together.Meanwhile, actor Shilpa Shirodkar, who is known for his roles in films like Bewafa Sanam, Khuda Witness and Gopi Kishan, has conducted a positive test for Kovid -19 in the 1990s.According to sources, the Union Ministry of Health remains alert and active, assesses the situation continuously and ensures the necessary measures to protect public health.India is a strong monitoring system to monitor viral respiratory diseases including integrated disease monitoring program (IDSP) and Covid-19 via ICMR. Hospitals across the country have been instructed to closely monitor cases of diseases like influenza and serious acute respiratory infections.
