Sharmila Tagore revealed how she shot together for ‘Ardana’ and ‘Arnir Deen Ratri’: ‘Rajesh Khanna was very busy ..’. Hindi film news

Sharmila Tagore is known for a long list of ‘Daag’, ‘Aradhana’, ‘Amar Prem’, ‘Chupke Chupke’ and many more memorable films. The actress has also done films acclaimed by some critics, such as veteran Satyajit Ray’s ‘Arneer Deen Ratri’, which was only seen in the Cannes Film Festival 2025 and a permanent ovation. Amid the screening of the film, Tagore described it about the shooting experience as he recalled the old times. He revealed that when Ray asked him to be a part of it, he immediately said yes, but later only realized that he gave his dates to Shakti Samanta for Rajesh Khanna starrer ‘Aradana’.He also revealed that during the same time, he was shooting for the iconic song, ‘Mere Sapno Ki Rani’. Sharmila said in an interview with Hollywood Reporter India, “He said,” Will you work in my film? I need a month in the month of May … ‘I said yes without thinking. Then when I put the phone down, I said, “Oh God, I am committed to Shakti Samanta because he was doing my queen of my wife.”Tagore further explained how she managed to talk and shoot for both films. He said, “Rajesh Khanna was very busy as he had won a talent competition and was indebted to 12 producers. So he had to give dates to everyone and they were all making a film. His dates were very precious. I said, ‘Shakti ji, I have to do this film. In any way I interacted and then I went to Satijit Ray.,Incidentally, Tagore made her acting debut with Ray’s film Apoor Censor (Apu Ki Ki), thus she clearly wanted to say the film-producer. The actress said, “I always treated a little fear with her, like you had done with my father.”Sharmila was last seen in the Bengali film ‘Auravan’ and revealed that this could be her last Bengali film for health reasons. As PTI said, he said, “I love doing Bengali films. I like everything about Kolkata, but I am not so fit due to my health status (to act in shooting).”
