Walmart to slash 1,500 jobs in efforts to streamline the operation

The US Retail Giant Walmart becomes the latest addition to the list of companies planning companies planning 1,500 jobs as a part of a comprehensive restructuring effort. The move aims to streamline its operation, according to an internal memorandum quoted by Reuters.Job cuts are expected to affect employees in Walmart’s Global Technology Division, e-commerce operations within the US stores, and its advertising unit, to affect employees in Walmart Connect.Some posts will be abolished, while new people will be designed to better align with the company’s long -term strategy.Memo said, “We should focus our attention to accelerate their progress that they will define the future of retail.”Walmart is the largest private employer in the US with US Retail Belladers and about 1.6 million employees. It also employs about 2.1 million people worldwide. It is also the largest importer in the country, with about 60% of shipments, mostly clothes, electronics and toys, from China.This step follows a series of recent changes in the company. In February, Walmart closed his office in North Carolina, transferring employees to a major hub in California and Arkansas. Last week, it announced a plan to raise prices on certain products by the end of May, citing financial stress due to trade policies of US President Donald Trump.
