Kyiv ‘is ready to take’ big steps towards peace ‘: Ukraine delegation source

Istanbul: Ukraine is ready to take “big steps” to progress towards peace in the second round of talks with Russian officials in Istanbul on Monday, a source of Kiev’s delegation told AFP.Both sides are expected to exchange plans on how they want to end Europe’s biggest struggle since World War, Europe’s three-year Russian invasion.The source said, “The Ukrainian delegation came to Istanbul to take big steps towards peace with a clear agenda and readiness.”It said in written comments to AFP that Russia still did not give its roadmap as to how to stop the fight with Ukraine, the United States or Türkiye.The source said, “If they come with flexibility to take real steps towards peace, we are ready. If they are ready to move forward, not only repeat the same previous ultimatum, then there can be good and big news today,” the source said.In Istanbul, Ukrainian officials have met separate Germany, Italy and United Kingdom representatives before interaction with Russian representatives, said Kiev’s Foreign Ministry spokesman.The spokesman said, “The parties coordinated the positions before today’s meeting between Ukrainian and Russian delegations. Members of the Ukrainian delegation reiterated the commitment to Ukraine’s peace efforts.”
