Northern Carolina launched action of action to secure firearms to combat gun theft and violence

The Northern Carolina Department of Public Safety (NCDPS) is watching safe (effectively secured to all fire scriptures) from June 1-7, an initiative that focuses on promoting safe gun storage across the state. The campaign includes local programs and educational outreach to help with gun theft and fire -related injuries.In Ashville, NCDPS is partnered with Ashville Police Department to support the effort by distributing free gun locks and sharing information about safe storage practices. The event is scheduled on Tuesday, June 3 from 2 to 6 pm on 800 Brevard Road.The FBI data quoted in a statement by Governor Josh Stein showed that there was a gun theft attack from vehicles in the last decade. In 2022, ten cities in Northern Carolina were ranked in the top 100 in the nation for gun theft from vehicles. Additionally, firearms are now the main cause of death related to injury to youth in the state.The issue has become more important after a series of deadly firing in the weekend. In Ashville, a 26 -year -old man died and several others were injured outside a live music bar. In Morgoanton, one person died and two others were injured in Saturday shooting. Another shooting one person died on Sunday morning at Katwba County and 11 injured at a house party.To help address an increase in gun -related violence, Stein proposed more than $ 2.2 million in funding for secure gun storage as part of his state budget.
