New Delhi: On Friday, a city court sent four persons, which included Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) leading marketing and revenue Nikhil Sosh, a 14-day judicial custody in connection with the tragic stampede outside the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate ordered Sosle along with Sunil Mathew, Sumant, and Kiran Kumar, private limited officials of DNA Entertainment, was kept in custody after his arrest in a joint operation by the Bangalore Police and the Crime Branch of the city.Sosle, who was arrested at Bangalore Airport, was about to ride in a flight to Dubai, contacted the Karnataka High Court, which challenges the validity of their prevention. According to the news agency PTIJustice Shri Krishna Kumar heard the argument but refused to give interim relief, postponed the matter till 9 June.As reported by the news agency ANISosele has claimed in his petition that the arrest “arbitrary, illegal and without any physical basis,” alleges that it happened before any preliminary investigation.The police on Thursday filed an FIR against RCB, event organizer DNA Entertainment, and Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), calling RCB convicted and serious allegations including convicted murder and illegal assembly after anarchy during the IPL victory of IPL. The free-edge event attracted about 3 lakh people, causing a deadly crush on the gates.In response to the FIR, senior KSCA officials, including President Raghuram Bhat and Secretary A Shankar, demanded to reduce the allegations in the High Court. The court provided interim protection from the arrest to the bearrs of the KSCA office, directed them to cooperate in a thorough investigation until the next hearing on 16 June.Meanwhile, the state government suspended several senior police officers including Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayanand after the incident. Other people suspended include Additional Commissioner Vikash Kumar Vikash and DCP (Central) Shekhar HT.Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah defended the government’s action amid the criticism of the BJP, saying, “We have taken action against those who were visually responsible and negligent in their duty,” and accused against the politicization of the tragedy.Deputy CM DK Shivkumar said, “The government has done its best to give justice … The case has been handed over to CID, and a judicial inquiry is going on ”.On the political front, the BJP state president of Vijayendra claimed, “The government only acted under pressure,” publicly resentment, mentioning the sudden suspension and arrest.The Karnataka High Court has also taken cognizance of the incident and asked the state to file a status report by June 10. A person under the leadership of retired Judge Justice John Michael D’Kunha has been appointed to investigate the incident.
