Hyderabad: BRS MLA from Jubilee Hills, Maganti Gopinath died on Sunday morning at a corporate hospital. On 5 June, Gopinath, who had a heart attack on a large scale, was treated and breathed his last at 5.45 am. The three -time MLAs of Jubilee Hills were suffering from various health issues in the last one year. The 62 -year -old Gopinath, who was serving as President of Greater Hyderabad BRS Wing and MLA of Jubilee Hills Assembly Constituency, began his political journey in 1983 with the Telugu Desam Party. He served as the chairman of TDP Youth Wing, Telugu Yuvatha from 1985 to 1992 and also organized the post of TDP. Gopinath served as Director of the then Hyderabad Urban Development Authority (HUDA) for two years from 1987 to 1989. He was also a member of the Hyderabad District Consumer Forum. As an MLA, Gopinath first won on a TDP ticket in 2014 and later joined the BRS. He again went to contest and win elections on BRS tickets in 2018 and 2023 assembly elections. In the 2023 election, he defeated former Indian cricket captain Mohammad Mohammad Azharuddin by a margin of 16,000 votes. He is alive by his wife, Sunita, son Vatsalyanath and two daughters, Akshat and Dicira. BRS President K Chandrashekhar Rao, Executive Chairman KT Ram Rao, Union Minister Kishan Reddy, and former ministers T Harish Rao and Talasani Srinivas Yadav were among many leaders who mourned the death of the MLA.
