US Ambassador to Canada Pete Hocastra defended the US boundary system, rejecting the recent travel warning to Ottawa, which advised Canadian people to prepare for possible phone discoveries and prevention while entering the United States.Hocastra told The Canadian Press that while some Canadians may have negative experiences, these are isolated events and are not reflected in broad American policy.“If a Canadian has a disappointing experience in the United States, I am not denying that this has happened, but I am saying that it is a separate event and it’s not a pattern,” said Hocastra. “Search tools and it all does not have a well -installed fear. We do not do this. America is a welcome place. ,In April, the Canadian government updated its travel advisor, warning citizens about a possible inquiry on the entry American ports, including the discovery of electronic devices. There have been several reports of thorough interrogation, phone checks and even detained on the border.Hokestra pushed the claims back, while also noted that some American passengers in Canada have reported a similar cold reception. “I heard that from coming to Canada from Americans, okay?” You know, we have not been welcomed a warmth when we have met for Canadian customs, “he said. The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) said in response that all officers are expected to follow the code of conduct promoting fairness, respect and professionalism. CBSA spokesperson Karin Martel said, “Treating people with respect, respect and impartiality is fundamental for our border service authorities for relations with the public.”Hokestra said that the decision to travel is up to individuals, but they said that those who stay away from America are “remembering an opportunity.”Travel between Canada and the US has decreased, in which the airlines cutting flights are reducing. According to Flight Center Travel Group Canada, in February, there was a decline of nearly 40 percent of the flights between the two countries.A recent survey of Legger Marketing for Association for Canadian Studies found that 52 percent Canadians believe that it is no longer safe for all Canadian people to travel to America. A similar number states that they personally feel unwanted in America.Concerns have also been raised by LGBTQ2S+ groups, some of which have opted to participate in the world pride in Washington and United Nations events in New York, citing increased investigation at the border between transgender and non -exhibiting rollbacks of the trump administration’s security for non -disclosures.
