Kolkata/Howrah: For 13 years, 46-year-old Amit Dutta lived a double life-a rich, friendly and neighbor by day, and a bedrgged thief at night. On the night of 5 June, Dutta’s luck ran away after Howrah Rural Police tried to break him into a house in Rajpur. While interrogating him, the police led the police to his palace in Nadakhali a day later. Perfect with a three-storey house, a treadmill, bathtub-fit toilet, marble floor and chandelier, irony that the theft was placed under CCTV surveillance to pre-fasting. In plain clothes, the police laid a trap and waited for Dutta to try a break-in. He was caught red.Police said that they are digging files of old unresolved theft case in Ulubaria, Nimdighi and Rajpur police stations in the last decade. When the Rajpur police contacted their Nadakhali counterparts for “Cross-Cross” Dutta’s house address and “criminal anticadents”, information motivated the Howrah and South 24-Parganas police team to raid Dutt’s huge mansion with the accused.In this house, Dutta lived with his wife, son and daughter -in -law. The house is equipped with luxury items, including chandeliers, a bathtub, gym equipment, air conditioner, expensive electronics and a carefully maintained garden. “Dutta also used stolen money to travel to Indonesia with his family and, remarkably, paid regular income tax on his illegal earnings. He recently booked a car, exactly a week before his arrest. They are being verified, “said an official.Police sources described Dutta as highly intelligent, often an attempt is made to mislead investigators with the statements of the contracts. Initially, he provided false identity, but eventually revealed his real identity under inquiry. The case has shocked the local residents, especially in Batnagar, where Dutta lived in a small tin-stagnated house 13 years ago. His neighbor, Summer Proponik said that the source of Datta’s clear property is now clear to all. Local people said that Dutta was very sociable and assistant, even donating huge amounts to the local club and actively participated in all club activities. The accused is currently in police custody as the investigation continues to investigate their widespread criminal activities in several courts.
