Amidst unrest in California’s largest city, China on Monday advised its citizens in Los Angeles to be cautious and prioritize their safety amidst law enforcement operations that target protests related to immigration. In a statement by the Chinese Consulate at Los Angeles, “to avoid closely monitoring official announcements and media reports, being highly cautious, strengthening security precautions, avoiding sites, crowded areas or poor public safety places.”It also asked Chinese citizens to avoid “going out at night or traveling alone”. As a advice from China, US President Donald Trump ordered the deployment of 2,000 National Guard soldiers at Los Angeles to control immigration protests. At least 44 people were arrested during the demonstrations. Over the weekend, law enforcement officials used tear gas and flashbang grenades to control protesters. The US President accused local authorities of failing to control unrest.
