No urgency, TN will listen to the petition on school funds in the appointed time: SC | Bharat News

New Delhi: SC on Monday turned down the Tamil Nadu government’s petition for the immediate list of its suits against the Center for release of more than Rs 2,291 crore under the Samagra Siksha Scheme (SSS).Showing before a bench of Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra and Justice Manmohan, senior advocate P Wilson said that there was urgency in the case and the state should give hearing during the holiday. However, the bench stated that there was no urgency and the suit could be listed to listen in the appointed time.The state, demanding initial hearing, alleged that the lack of funds was depriving around 48 lakh students of the right to education and the new educational year had already started on 3 June. The Tamil Nadu government filed a original case under Article 131 of the Constitution, alleging that the Union Government was withdrawing funds under the SSS on the non-multitude of the National Education Policy 2020.
