New Delhi: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday criticized the Central Government for the April 22 terror attack in Pahgam, Jammu and Kashmir. He said that the attack took place due to the “callsness” of the Center and accused the BJP of politicizing the bravery of the armed forces.Speaking in the Bengal state assembly, Banerjee said, “Pahalgam terror attack is the result of the calls of the center, the BJP is trying to politicize the bravery of the armed forces.”He also questioned the absence of forces during the attack, asking, “Why were the security personnel absent at the place of a terrorist attack in Pahalgam?”However, the Chief Minister of Bengal praised the armed forces for his “bravery” during Operation Sindoor. The CM of Bengal said, “There was a need to teach a lesson, we salute the bravery of the armed forces (bravery of the armed forces ().”For political accountability, Banerjee said, “The BJP should go to the government as it has failed to provide security to the people of this country.”He also commented on India’s diplomatic attitude, saying, “It is not sure that if we have international diplomacy issues, Pakistan received a loan from IMF instead of being a corner globally.”India launched Operation Sindor on 7 May and destroyed nine terrorist camps in Pakistan and Poke in response to a terrorist attack in Pahgam in Jammu and Kashmir on 22 April, which claimed the lives of 26 people, mostly tourists. Following India’s strike, Pakistan retaliated with drone attacks along the border with control and cross -baking of Jammu and Kashmir.After Pakistan’s infiltration, India targeted and destroyed the major Pakistani military and air infrastructure including Noor Khan Airbase and Rahim Yar Khan Airbase in Rawalpindi. The two countries reached an understanding to end enmity on 10 May.
