PM Modi visits Air India Plane Cras Site

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the destructive Air India plane accident site in Ahmedabad on Friday, where 241 people lost their lives in one of the country’s worst aviation disasters. The Prime Minister along with Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjrapu also met the Prime Minister at the Civil Hospital.PM Modi said in a post on X, “I visited the accident site in Ahmedabad today. The scene of the devastation is tragic. Subsequently, the officials and teams made tireless attempts. Our views remain with those who lost their loved ones in this unimaginable tragedy.”Air India Flight AI -171, bound to London’s Gatwick Airport, crashed immediately after the takeoff from Ahmedabad International Airport on Thursday. The Boeing 787-8 aircraft carrying 242 passengers and crews crashed at the hostel building of a resident doctors near the airport.Passengers included 169 Indian citizens, 53 British citizens, seven Portuguese citizens and a Canadian National. Avoided a British national accident of Indian origin. The aircraft was operated by Captain Sumit Sabarwal, a line training captain with an 8,200 -hour flight experience, and the first officer Clive Kundar.Home Minister Amit Shah, who visited the site yesterday, revealed that high temperatures made the rescue efforts impossible due to the burning of about 125,000 liters of fuel. He mentioned that about 1,000 DNA tests have been done to officially confirm the casualties.Shah said, “In just 10 minutes of the incident, we came to know. The Prime Minister immediately called back, and the personnel of the Union and State Governments jointly introduced relief and rescue operations,” Shah said.
