With the first trial between England and India in Headingly, Team India’s red-ball preparations are in full swing. In a training video shared by BCCI, bowling coach Morne Morkel expressed satisfaction with intensity and discipline by the bowlers during his early sessions in English conditions. Referring to the practice so far, Morkel said that vibrant circumstances are favorable to fast bowlers and have boosted their confidence in the tour quickly. Morkel said, “The situation is favorable to the fast bowlers, which is very exciting. This is providing their confidence. It is testing for the batsmen, but it also helps to prepare them for the coming time,” Morkel said. “I don’t think the test match pitch will be spicy, but it is important to adjust the phase movement and the boom.” Morkel stressed that the actual test for the bowling unit would come when the surfaces would be thrown out. “A very good banquet has been performed between the bat and the ball, but when the wickets are flat, we will need character. I will not only ask them to be vocal when the ball goes – we need to bring that intensity all the time.”
