India and China agree to resume direct flights: Vikram Misri meets Sun Vedong; To rebuild relationships with ‘people-centric attachments’. Bharat News

FOreg Secretary Vikram Misri met Chinese Vice President Sun Weeong in New Delhi on Friday in a fresh attempt to improve bilateral relations between the two countries. The video is visiting India for two days.During the meeting, the neighbors decided to rebuild the relationship by giving priority to ‘people-centered engagement’, including resumption of direct flights. Discussions reviewed the progress since the final meeting between countries, which was held in Beijing in January. Misri appreciated China’s cooperation in the facility to resume the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra this year, a significant development welcomed by Indian pilgrims. Last year, the two countries reached the same to a 6 -digit consensus. Misri also referred to discussions held under the special level mechanisms on the trans-braord rivers in April 2025, where both sides agreed to share hydrological data and other forms of cooperation, and expected progress. The talks accelerated the resumption of direct air connectivity and expected an updated air service agreement. Both sides agreed to reduce procedures for visa application and take steps to promote exchanges between media, scholars and think tanks.The two countries also reviewed the activities planned for the 75th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations. Additionally, India and China have decided to call functional dialogues in areas such as trade and economics, which aim to deepen engagement and cooperation in various fronts. India had said on Thursday that it is in touch with the Chinese side as China had taken export control over items related to rare earth. The MEA spokesperson said, “We are in touch with the Chinese side, in both of whom to predict in the supply chain for trade in Beijing with Delhi, in line with international practices.” Earlier in April, President Draupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi met on the 75th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations with their Chinese counterparts, Xi Jinping and Li Kiang, respectively. Vikram Misri Chinese Ambassador joined an event organized by Ju Fihong and said the incident would become even more “meaningful” if the oath taken by the countries is translated into tangible works.
