IED blast kills CRPF jawan near Jharkhand border in Odisha

Rourkela/Ranchi: A CRPF Assistant Sub-Nistorist was killed in an IED explosion during an area supremacy in Sundargarh district of Odisha near the border in early Saturday. Satyaban Kumar Singh (34), from Kishanagar in Uttar Pradesh, was seriously injured, when the IED was suspected to be imposed by the Maoists, an explosion was done in about 6amin Sarda forest. Singh, who was posted with 134 battalions of CRPF, died during treatment at a private hospital in Rourkela.The operation was started after intelligence input about the MAOIST movement. A joint team of CRPF and special operations groups was operating on the explosion of IED. The region has been extended after the Maoists looted about 5 tonnes of explosives on 27 May from Banko Stone Quarry. Security forces have recovered about 4 tonnes of stolen explosives.
