Andhra Pradesh: Sweeper delivers on woman; Baby death | Bharat News

Kakinada: A sanitary worker allegedly performed delivery at Talarevu Community Health Center in Kakinada district in early hours of Saturday. The child died after delivery, causing a protest in the hospital by family members, who alleged that the newborn died due to negligence of doctors.Medical and health officials, however, denied the allegations, stating that the sanitary worker did not deliver. He said that an inquiry has been ordered and strict action will be initiated if someone in the hospital is found negligent regarding the death of a newborn.This incident caused tension in Talarevu. Health officials said a 22 -year -old woman was admitted to the hospital on Friday morning and was in constant observation. However, the woman’s relatives stated that they developed pain in the early hours of Saturday and the sanitary worker demonstrated delivery on duty.Doctors said that the child died due to the meconium aspiration syndrome, a breathing problem that can affect newborns when they put a mixture of fetal stool and amniotic fluid in their lungs after birth or shortly after time, which creates a respiratory crisis. As the child’s condition deteriorated, the duty doctor advised the woman’s relatives to take the newborn to the government’s general hospital. The child died on the way to GGH. The condition of the woman is called stable. District Coordinator Dr. for Health Services. Swapna told Stoi that gynecologists were present at the health center till 2 pm. A pediatrician and two employee nurses, along with a sanitary worker, were present in health facilities after the incident. The sanitary worker is a trained birth attendant and caught the child when the woman suddenly reached, and the umbilical cord began to grow too long. “He held the cord and placed oxygen on the child. Later, he called the nurse and the doctor,” he explained.
