New Delhi: As the Israel-Iran aerial attacks intensified, the government said on Monday that it was transferring Indian students to Iran to ensure its safety. There are about 10,000 Indians in Iran, out of which 6,000 are students. Around 600 Indian students were transferred from Tehran to QOM, which has been aiming for Israeli attacks. About 110 students of Uria also reached the Armenian border on Monday evening and were expected to be emptied on Tuesday. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar spoke to his Armenian counterpart Ararat Mirzoya on Sunday. A source said that the students of Shiraz and Isfahan are being transferred to Yajad.The MEA said in a statement, “The Indian Embassy in Tehran is constantly monitoring the security situation and is complicating Indian students in Iran to ensure their safety.” “In some cases, students are being transferred to safe places within Iran with an embassy facility. Other viable options are also subject to examination,” he said.Jaishankar also talked about the situation in West Asia with Deputy PM and UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.According to Srinagar reports, hundreds of Kashmiri students enrolled in various universities for professional courses in Iran are stranded due to increased tension with Israel. Families have appealed to PM Narendra Modi.
