New Delhi: Neeraj Chopra claimed his first Diamond League victory in two years, crossing the Julian Weber of Germany after finishing second in Paris on Friday.Chopra won an 88.16 meter influential first round throw in a competitive sector featuring five athletes, who have thrown over 90 meters. Earlier in May, Chopra obtained a 90.23 meter throw in the Doha Diamond League, in second place for Weber’s 91.06 meter winning throw.Weber earlier improved Chopra at Janusz Kusokinski Memorial Meet in Poland on 23 May, where both athletes competed in challenging weather conditions. Weber threw 86.12 meters, while Chopra 84.14 m.Chopra’s last Diamond League Triumph was in Lazen in June 2023, where he threw 87.66 meters. Since then, he finished second in six diamond league competitions until this victory.This is the first win in the Paris leg of Chopra’s Diamond League series. His previous Paris appearance was in 2017 as a junior world champion, where he finished fifth with 84.67 meters.The two -time Olympic medalist started his 2025 season by winning an invitation meeting in Potchefstruj, South Africa, throwing 84.52 meters at the Category F event.Chopra’s upcoming schedule includes the Golden Spike Athletics Meet in Ostrava, Czech Republic on 24 June.
