Agra: A Poxo court in Aligarh sentenced a person in the late 30s, for raping an eight -year -old girl on November 16, 2020 near a brick kiln for life imprisonment for life imprisonment, where he worked and lived a family. The court found Shailesh Manjhi of Nalanda district of Bihar guilty under the IPC section 376 (rape), 323 (voluntarily injured) and POCSO Act. According to Mohammad Dilshad’s report, it also imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on him.The survivor, who was in eight at the time, testified that she was playing when Manjhi wooed her with a story about burying Toffees. He took her under a neem tree, removed her clothes, and “bad things”, she told the court. When he shouted, he punched him on his face, injured his eyes, and strangled him before running away.
