‘I am confident that I can do something else’: Neeraj Chopra confidence 90 meter-plus throw after Paris win. More sports news

Neeraj Chopra has ticks another box in his brilliant career. He added his first Diamond League title in Paris to his first Diamond League title in Paris with an early throw of 88.16 meters at Stad Sebastian Charlie on Friday night. Despite a strong challenge from his German rival Julian Weber, who posted an 87.88 meter throw in his first attempt and finally finished second, Neeraj managed to come to the top. This was the first time in the season when Neeraj defeated Weber, who won the Doha and Poland DL titles. The Paris win is Neeraj’s first DL title in two years, coming to Lazen in June 2023, where he recorded a throw of 87.66 meters. Since then, Neeraj finished second in six DL demonstrations. Eight years later, in Paris once again, his last outing in competition-2017 ended in the eighth place with the best throw of 84.67 meters-Niraj won a solid victory. After his victory, Neeraj said, “It was a very good start. I liked it really in the beginning. But I had a lot of speed today. The runway was right, but I could not control my speed. I need to do some more work on it. I am also happy with the throw. I am also expecting some more good throw in future.”

In the competition, Neeraj opened with 88.16 meters, then managed 85.10 meters in his second attempt. He fouled his next three throw before registering 82.89 meters in his last attempt. Weber began with 87.88 meters and failed to overtake Neeraj, with 86.20m, 82.03m, 83.13m, 84.50m, and 81.08m. Speaking about his upcoming program, Neeraj commented, “I will compete in Ostrava. I also need some recovery time. I am also excited about this neck classic. It is really something that I think I have done for my country and people are supporting. After Tokyo Olympics, Indian people are thinking about this incident.” He said: “I have already broken the 90 -meter barrier in Doha. So now I am confident that I can do something else. But let’s see, it depends on the season and good conditions. Also, how the body feels.”
