New Delhi: The Congress party on Monday criticized US President Donald Trump’s decision to launch an airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear enrichment facilities, saying it goes against its own statements supporting continuous conversations with Iran. The party criticized the central government for not speaking against American bombing or Israel’s actions.Communication Jeram Ramesh, in -charge of the Congress General Secretary, said to a post on X, “President Trump’s decision to highlight American aerial power on Iran ‘jokingly’ his own calls for the continuity of interaction with Iran.”He said, “The Indian National Congress repeats the complete imperative of immediate diplomacy and dialogue with Iran. The Government of India should demonstrate more moral courage than so far. ,Ramesh said that the Modi government “unevenly criticized nor condemned American bombing and Israel’s aggression, bombings and targeted murders.”He wrote on X, “It has maintained a deaf silence on the massacre on Palestinians in Gaza.”Congress leader Pawan Khera also criticized PM Modi. “Is it surprising and shocking, PM has full silence, whether on bombing innocent civilians in Gaza, or in other countries we are using air power against Israel’s murders or now we are using air power against Iran … India has always played peace and creative role in West Asia. Why is India following its moral authority in the field?Statements came after the US bombing three major nuclear sites in Iran – Fordo, Natanz and Isfahan – on Sunday, bringing themselves directly into the ongoing struggle between Israel and Iran.Meanwhile, on Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi told the Iranian President Masood Pezeshakian that India is “deeply concerned” about the conflict between Iran and Israel and calls for immediate de-eusesal through “dialogue and diplomacy”.The US strike at Iran’s nuclear sites has expressed concern about the widespread struggle in the Middle East.Prior to the US bombing, Congress Parliamentary Party President Sonia Gandhi also spoke on the issue.
