‘No jump to join BJP’: Shashi Tharoor on his operation vermilion article; Explains rumors. Bharat News

New Delhi: Senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor on Tuesday clarified that his recent article should not be misunderstood as a sign of his “jump” to join the BJP, praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s diplomatic efforts under Operation Sindoor. The MP of Thiruvananthapuram stressed that his comment was linked in national unity, the interests of the country and the commitment to stand for India. When asked about the article during an incident, Tharoor said, “This is not a sign of my jump to join the Prime Minister’s party (BJP) as some people are unfortunate.” “This is a statement of national unity, national interest and standing for India, which is fundamentally in my mind why I returned to India after 25 years of service in the United Nations. I did this to serve India, and I had the opportunity to do so, “Tharoor told the news agency PTI.His comments followed the publication of his article in The Hindu on Monday, where he wrote that Modi’s “energy, dynamics and desire to attach remain a major property for India on the global platform, but is worthy of more and more support.” The Prime Minister’s office later shared a piece of Tharoor on X.This article speculated about the increasing distance from the Congress with the leadership of the Congress, especially at a time when the party has been strongly important for the Modi government’s foreign policy, which accused it of separating India on the world stage. However, Tharoor rejected any such political objectives behind his writing. The Lok Sabha MP claimed that the article was focused on Operation Sindoor and successful diplomatic outreach. He said, “People always see all this in the context of today’s news. This is an article in which I describe the success of this outreach mission, which, among other things, demonstrates the unity of all parties behind the matter of important national interest,” he said.“I said that the Prime Minister himself has demonstrated dynamics and energy in joining other countries. He has traveled to more countries than any Prime Minister, and has done so to take India’s message around the world,” Tharoor said. While reflecting the importance of cross-party solidarity, Tharoor said, “And what we all did in my mind, what we all did, was giving their efforts, which came back to all various political parties, backgrounds, groups, religions, and the world to bear the message that gives a message that stands for a united India. Today it is a message against terrorism, tomorrow it can be a message on something else, but that support, I believe, is very important.,He said to strengthen his point, “I too, the longest believed that political differences in our democracy should stay on boundaries. For us, I think there is no such thing as BJP foreign policy or Congress foreign policy, only Indian foreign policy and Indian national interests.”“I am not saying anything new, I said this many years ago, and I said it publicly, on record, first when I became the chairman of the Committee of Foreign Affairs in 2014,” he said.In his article, Tharoor described the post-operation vermilion diplomatic outreach as “a moment of national resolution and effective communication”. “It confirms that India, when united, can project its voice with clarity and conviction on international platforms,” he said.Tharoor led a multi-party delegation after the Pahalgam terror attacks and later military operations in the United States and four other countries, which aims to explain the status of India to the international community. His recent comments and writing have attracted attention as they have separated from the Congress party’s continuous attacks on the Modi government’s foreign policy, especially on the claims of the ceasefire of the ceasefire between US President Donald Trump’s India and Pakistan. After Tahrur’s trend on India-Pakistan relations and Pahalgam attack, diplomatic outreach has often given birth to criticism and topical jibs from within its party.
