Neeraj Chopra, who threw an ace spear of India, continued his victory this season by extending the title of men’s spear at the 64th Ostrava Golden Spike Meet in the Czech Republic on Tuesday. Competition for the first time at this prestigious World Athletics Continental Tour Gold-Laval event, Chopra won with the best attempt of 85.29 meters. On 20 June, his Paris Diamond League victory, where he threw the 88.16 meter to exclude the rival Julian Weber, Chopra outlined his continuity despite not killing his personal peak once again. Chopra was third at the end of the second round after opening with foul before the 83.45 m throw. But he jumped to the top position with his third round attempt of 85.29 meters, cleaned them from the ground as the only athlete at night to dissolve the 85 -meter mark. He recorded 82.17 meters and 81.01 meters in his next two throw before flying his last attempt. South Africa’s DU Smt finished second with the best throw of 84.12 meters, which came in his second attempt, while Anderson Peters of Granada, 2019 World Champion, claimed third place with 83.63 meters throw in his first attempt. The Ostrava Meet holds special significance for 27 -year -old Chopra as it is directed by his individual coach and javelin veteran Jan Zelezni, who himself is the AA three -time Olympic gold medalist who won the event nine times during his decorated career. Chopra had abandoned the last two versions due to fitness concerns, but this year marked its first appearance with a confidence. Chopra’s 2025 season has been impressive so far. He started with a strong performance in the Doha Diamond League in May, where he crossed the elusive 90 meter barrier to finish second for the second time in his career N route. He followed it with a commanding win in the Paris Diamond League and now won the back-to-back title with the Ostrava Triumph. Chopra threw his first and final, but had already enough to top the nine-man field and to maintain his victory pace in front of big competitions in the later season.
