In the last two decades, suicide has remained in the top two causes of death between youth (15–29 years) in India, showing analysis of the causes of the death report. In 2020–22, suicides calculated one of the six deaths (17.1%) in this age group. Globally, suicide is the third most common cause of deaths in this age group, according to WHO.In the list of top 10 causes of death for all ages, there is no suicide figure. The cardiovascular disease tops the list, followed by respiratory infections and cancer. Counter-supporting knowledge, as it may seem, it is young who is a greater risk of death from suicide.

Part of suicides in total deaths in the age group of 15–29 was higher than men (16.3%) in women (18.2%) in 2020–22, but it has fallen over the years, quite shut down. In 2010-13, the share of suicides was 21.8% for women and 15% for men.The 15-29 age group in India is only 5% of all deaths in India as per the latest cause of the North Report of India’s Registrar General, which belongs to the period of 2020–22. The shocking thing is that taking their lives is the biggest threat for young people during this period, followed by road accidents.
