New Delhi: Thousands of RSS volunteers, including some major offices beer, were put in jail and on 25 June 1975 were subjected to various types of torture in custody during the emergency period imposed by the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.RSS National Publicity and Media Department Head said, “At least 100 such union Kayakarts died during this period. Some of them died in jail, while others. Our Pandurang Kshirsagar ji (then head of the All India Management Committee of the Sangh) was one of those who were killed in jail due to extreme torture.”Ambekar implemented an emergency by the previous Congress government on the democratic traditions of India and said that those 21 months of “dictatorship” in the country could never be forgotten. He said that RSS workers were arrested, beaten and many of them were subjected to a third degree torture in custody to force them to come in support of the government and impose emergency.“They also wanted them to reveal the names of the Sangh leaders participating in the nationwide movement (against the emergency),” said Ambekar. He said, “But, the dictatorship eventually ended and democracy in the country was restored due to incredible mass movement in the country.”He said that all ‘Swammsevax’ actively participated in the nationwide movement to save democracy. On June 25, 1975, Indira Gandhi announced the implementation of the Emergency in the broadcast on All India Radio, shortly thereafter, the Supreme Court declared the Allahabad’s High Court’s decision as conditional stopping the Lok Sabha as zero and zero elections. It was raised on 21 March 1977.The 21 -month emergency is known for mass action against the political opponents of the previous Congress government, large -scale stringation, press sensorship, suspension of constitutional rights and centralization of power.Soon after the announcement of emergency in the country, then RSS chief Balasaheb Deorus was arrested in Nagpur and the organization was banned by the Indira Gandhi government.Ambekar said, “Several union workers, including prominent people, were also arrested at different places. Some were raised on the night of 25 June, while others later. There were about 1300 union principals. There were about 1300 union principals. Of them, about 189 preachers were arrested,” Ambekar said.He said that thousands of RSS ‘Swamsevak’ and ‘Karcartus’ were arrested during the Emergency.Ambekar said that the RSS, which was running around 50,000 ‘branches’ across the country at that time, deployed his “full force” in the movement against the involvement in the Emergency with others with a common goal of restoring democracy. He clearly dismissed the claim of critics as “misleading” that the then RSS chief, Dorus, wrote Prime Minister Indira Gandhi to ban his organization from jail and release Sangh Karcarts from jail.“The letter written by Dorus ji was to protect people from the pain of struggle that he had to face in the coming time. It was also done in Mahabharata. He wrote his letters with politics. But he was clear that if correspondence does not work, the dictator considers it as a weakness and is the next weapon. And, Satyagraha was organized in which 80,000 to one lakh people participated, he said.“Many people were put in jail. This Satyagraha, in which the people of the Sangh worked so hard, were also decisive. Because of this, the Emergency had to be raised and the elections were announced,” Ambekar said.“I think it is very important to understand the story completely. In the whole story, Part 1 is sending letters, Part 2 is Mahasaghashsh (great struggle), Part 3 Emergency is ending and elections were held again. So it is very important to see it in a holistic way, “he said.Last year, Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced the government’s decision to inspect on 25 June, the day the Emergency was announced in 1975, as ‘Samvidan Hatya Diwas’ as ‘Samvidan Hatya Diwas’ to recall the “large -scale contribution” of those who tolerated the “inhuman pain” of the period.
