New Delhi: Home Minister Amit Shah said on Wednesday that the Emergency was imposed for the establishment of “Parivarvad”, or dynastic politics, and converted the entire country into jail.Addressing an incident to mark the ‘Samvidan Hatya Day’, he said that it was important to remember emergency status as a “dark chapter” in the history of freedom India so that in the future, no person could overcome his dictatorial mentality against the Constitution.In a sharp attack on Indira Gandhi, Shah said that the then PM destroyed the spirit of the Constitution through the same sentence by Babasaheb Ambedkar and others – “The President has declared an emergency.”Shah said that the country will never forget the injustice and atrocities done by the Congress during the Emergency.“The whole world knows that there was no threat to the security of the nation, but the then PM’s chair was in danger, so the Emergency was imposed,” Shah said. Recalling this period, Shah said that “the party is bigger than the nation, the family is greater than the party, the person is greater than the family, and the power is greater than the national interest” flutter during the Emergency. In contrast, under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi, the thinking of ‘Nation First’ was echoing in the minds of the people, he said.The Home Minister said that in 2014, Modi overthrew dynastic politics and at the age of 25, he opposed Indira’s “dictatorship”.“The way the country was converted into a prison, the years of the soul of the country made dumb, the courts made the deaf and the pen of writers to remain silent, keeping in mind those things and after giving it an idea, it was decided that it was decided to celebrate the day of emergency as ‘Samvidhan Hatya Diwas’.He said that when it was decided to see on 25 June every year as ‘Samvidan Hatya Day’, during the discussion on a name decision, it was felt that the name was “Kathor (rigid) and ruthless (ruthless)”, but finally the name was finally chosen because it looked appropriate.“The emergency was imposed by an autocratic ruler 50 years ago, whose sole purpose was to preserve his dynasty rule, one of the dark chapters in India’s history,” Shah posted on X first X.
