New Delhi: The RSS on Thursday urged a review of the words ‘socialist’ and ‘secular’ in the preamble of the Constitution, stating that they were added during the Emergency and were not included in the constitution prepared by BR Ambedkar. RSS General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabol addressed an event marking the 50 -year emergency and said, “Babasaheb Ambedkar never used these words in the preamble of the Constitution. The words were added during the Emergency, when the fundamental rights were suspended, the Parliament did not work, and the judiciary was wrapped.He said that the issue was previously discussed, but no concrete results were achieved about removing these words. “So should they remain in the preamble, should be considered,” said Hosabol.Taking a job in the Congress, Hosable demanded an apology for the excesses made during the emergency, seeking forcibly sterilization, chaos, and freedom of the judiciary and the press, recalled.“Those who do such things are walking with a copy of the Constitution today. They still have not apologized … apologize …” he said.Earlier on Tuesday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah called the Emergency which was a “dark chapter” on 25 June 1975 and said “the nation never bowed to dictatorship”. Shah claimed that the Modi government has decided to inspect the annual “Samvidan Hatya Day” across the country on 25 June.This emergency had changed major elements such as the Preamble and the Constitution, weakening the judiciary and suspended democratic rights, Shah said.The union cabinet on Wednesday passed a resolution condemning the emergency imposed by former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The cabinet held a meeting under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and saw the two -minute silence as “as a tribute to those who were removed constitutionally guaranteed democratic rights and which were then subjected to unimaginable horrors.”
