‘Unacceptable’: Japan condemned Trump’s Hiroshima compared to Iran’s attacks; Demands demand

Japan has strongly criticized US President Donald Trump for comparing recent American military attacks on Iran for the atomic bomb blasts of Hiroshima and Nagasaki ending World War II.“That hit ended the war,” Trump told reporters on Wednesday. “I don’t want to use an example of Hiroshima, I do not want to use an example of Nagasaki, but it was essentially the same thing.”Comparison has drawn backlash across Japan, which remains the only country facing nuclear attacks. Bombing in August 1945 killed about 140,000 people, and the remaining people live with long -term health issues and trauma.Nagasaki Mayor Shiro Suzuki responded to Trump’s remarks, saying, “If Trump’s comments justified leaving the atomic bomb, it is a great regret for us as a city that was bombarded.”Atomic bomb survivor and Nobel Peace Prize-winning Advocate Group Nihon Hidanko co-chairman, Mimaki Tochayuki also criticized Trump, stating that the comment was “unacceptable”, as quoted by the BBC through Japanese public broadcaster NHK.“I am really disappointed. I have all anger,” Terruko Yokoyama said, another member of Nihon Hidanko, talking to Codo News.In response, survived in Hiroshima and citizens on Thursday staged a protest, demanding that Trump withdrew his statement. Hiroshima MPs also passed a resolution dismissing any statement that justifies the use of nuclear weapons and is called to resolve all armed conflicts peacefully.Asked if Japan would formally complain, Chief Cabinet Secretary Hayashi Yoshimasa said that “Japan has repeatedly expressed its place for Washington on atomic atomic bombs”.Trump’s controversial remarks occurred when he pushed back against a leaked American intelligence evaluation, suggesting that recent attacks on Iranian nuclear sites delayed their program for only a few months.Trump stated that the United States “attacked Iran’s nuclear capabilities” “and set them back” decades ” – also a claim supported by CIA director John Ratcliffe.Hiroshima’s legacy remains central for Japan’s anti -nuclear stance.
