Guwahati: Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday announced that only deputy commissioners were authorized to clean adults’ base applications, which processes the departure from the practice of UIDAI-RN service, as part of the tight check to filter illegal immigrants from Bangladesh.Sarma said in a briefing following the cabinet decision, “Tightening the rules for adults will make it difficult for illegal Bangladeshi migrants to pass. It will be easy for us to catch and deport them without, without, without, without, without, without, without, without, without, without, without, without, without, without, without, without, without, without,.”The CM said that Assam had already acquired 100% Aadhaar coverage and only newborns required enrollment, which would continue through the “normal process” in Seva Kendras. The new system of obtaining DCS for applications filed by adults is based on the estimate that any adult enrolled for Aadhaar may be an illegal immigrant to potentially demanding legal identity.“Last night, we deported 20 more Bangladeshis as part of our ongoing efforts to locate and push back. The decision to tighten the rules of issuing Aadhaar will assist in our efforts in this direction,” Sarma said. The plan to issue Aadhaar through DCS includes more rigorous certification procedures and document verification standards before approving the significant biometric identity that serves as evidence of both identity and residence in India. The Aadhaar card does not establish citizenship status, serves as the entrance to many government programs and entitlement.
