New Delhi: A woman law student was allegedly gangraped in her college campus in Kasba, South Kolkata, which led to the resentment of the city. Nearly a year after the case of RG Kar, the incident has ruled the safety concerns of women and led the TMC and its main opposition party – BJP in the state.BJP leader Dilip Ghosh, alleging ignoring the safety of women in West Bengal, made Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s shuffle.Talking to ANI, Ghosh said, “Mamata Banerjee does not look at such incidents. Crimes against women in West Bengal are increasing, and women are afraid of getting out of homes … TMC should condemn at least such acts …”He also rapidly reacted to TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee’s controversial remarks on the case. Kalyan had said, “I am not a lawyer in the incident at Law College, but the accused should be arrested. Some people commit this type of crime … but what can a friend be done if he raped his friend. What can be done in the police schools? It was done for another student by the students. It will protect (victim)? Will the police always be? ,Dilip Ghosh replied, “He should be ashamed. What happened
The alleged gang rape took place on Wednesday evening inside the campus of South Calcutta Law College in Kasba. Police arrested three accused – Monojo Mishra (31), Zab Ahmed (19), and Pramit Mukhopadhyay (20) -Hithin 24 hours.The three were either alumni or employees in the college.Meanwhile, another arrest was made on Saturday related to the case.The police have seized their mobile phone and are demanding detention for further investigation.
