Meet Parag Jain, the new R&AW chief who has played an important role in Operation Sindoor. Bharat News

New Delhi: Parag Jain, an experienced intelligence officer, has been credited with the masterminding of high-stay operation Sindoor, has been appointed as the new head of the Research and Analysis Wing (R&D). His appointment was approved by the Cabinet’s Appointments Committee, with a two -year tenure to start on 1 July, a day after the retirement of Ravi Sinha.Punjab cadre’s 1989-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Jain is widely considered a specialist in both human and technical intelligence. According to the official government order, “The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Mr. Parag Jain, IP, which is until the order beyond the date of the perception of charge for the two -year tenure under the Cabinet Secretariat for the post of Secretary, Research and Analysis Wing (R&W), which is also earlier.,Earlier, he led the Aviation Research Center (ARC), which was an elite wing known for his work in Ariel Surveillance, Sigin (Signal Intelligence), Photint (Photo Reconciliation), Imint (Imagery Intelligence), and his work in border monitoring. His operational depth and leadership was recently seen in the plan and intelligence behind Operation Sindoor, which targeted nine terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (POK), including the headquarters of Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Tabiba on 7 May.Officials told PTI that “the missile strike was directed by intelligence collected by a team led by Jain.” On Humint and Techint integration, his command played an important role in enabling the armed forces to carry out an accurate strike beyond the Line of Control.Jain’s operational experience in Kashmir makes him an ideal fit to deal with Pakistan’s efforts to revive the cross-limit terrorist infrastructure. His participation was important during the 2019 reorganization of Jammu and Kashmir, especially in safety coordination.Apart from domestic intelligence, Jain has served in Indian missions abroad – Sri Lanka and Canada. In Canada, he monitored the activities of Khalistani terror module working from foreign soil, which strengthens his credibility as a neighbor expert.He was promoted to the post of Director General of Police (DGP) in Punjab on 1 January 2021, although he was on central deputation at that time. During the height of terrorism in Punjab, Jain acted as SSP and excavation in many districts, which contributes to important counter-encephalopathy operations.With a reputation as a non-habitation operator in the intelligence community, Jain now takes charge at a time when external security challenges of India-from China and China to cross-border terrorist financing and international extremist networks-demand strategic reactions.(With input with news agency PTI)
