Amarnath Yatra: Officers operated mock drills at passenger foundation base camp; Yatra is about to begin on 3 July

New Delhi: Security forces held a comprehensive joint fake drill on Monday at the Aadhaar Camp, Yatri Nivas for the Amarnath Yatra in Jammu and Kashmir, which was a former -employee to ensure security during the upcoming Amarnath Yatra. Buses were sent under full security cover to test the preparations.The first batch of pilgrims will be removed from the Jammu base camp on 2 July. The journey will formally start on 3 July through both Baltal and Pahgam routes.Talking to reporters, Deputy Commissioner of Jammu, Sachin Kumar Vaishi said that all preparations for the yatra have been completed. “Today, tokens will be distributed in Saraswati Dham. We appeal to people to come in large numbers; we will provide them with all the necessary facilities, and no one will have to face any issue. We have complete preparation for everything, ”he said.The purpose of exercise is to assess emergency preparations in the event of landslides or other natural disasters during pilgrimage and ensure quick response in case of any unfortunate event. The simulation includes saving vehicles stranded and providing immediate assistance to the injured pilgrims, coordinating with security and disaster response teams efficiently withdrawn and medical aid.Earlier, on Sunday, a joint fake landslide drill was organized in parts of the Samaroli by the Indian Army, CRPF, J&K Police, and Jammu and Kashmir State Disaster Response Forces (JKSDRF) and was one of the important routes for Yatra, along with Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.CRPF has intensified monitoring by deploying K-9 (DOG) squads with its personnel on the major routes used by thousands of pilgrims and strengthened the highway patrol, which has focused special focus on sensitive parts such as Udampur sector.Meanwhile, Director General of Police (J&K) Nalin Prabha held a joint security review meeting in Udampur on Saturday, which will continue till 9 August. The meeting was called to increase the coordination between all agencies involved in reviewing the meeting and ensuring the safety of pilgrims.Addressing the meeting, the DGP emphasized the need to maintain very close coordination for the authorities, describing it as important to ensure an incident-free journey. He directed that zonal and sectoral officers should have up-to-date information about the availability and location of special teams like drone units, bomb disposal squads, dog squads and Quick Response Teams (QRT), to ensure that these teams can be deployed in real time in case of any emergency.
