European Union pressures China to prevent ‘damage to European security’

Brussels: European Union’s foreign affairs head Kaza Kalas on Wednesday urged Beijing to prevent Europe’s security, as the top diplomat of China interacted in Brussels before the summit of a leader later this month.“China is not our opponent, but our relationship on security is increasing,” Kalas said before meeting Wang Yi of China. “Chinese companies are Moscow’s lifeline to maintain their war against Ukraine. Beijing carries on cyber attacks, interfere with our democracy, and wrongly trades. These actions cause European security and damage to jobs.”Wang’s visit to Brussels, after which he will visit Berlin and Paris, Chinese President Xi Jinping and a few three weeks before a summit between top officials of the European Union in Jinping and Beijing. As US President Donald Trump has shook the major trading powers by removing a tariff war, the European Union has opened the door to improve relations with China. But instead of correction, a business spat deepened only between Brussels and Beijing over alleged unfair practices by China. And the 27-nation block is still railing against the flow of important technology for the Russian army through China. “Achieving war in Europe is a contradiction to demand close ties with Europe, it should be addressed to Beijing,” Kalas said. “In an unstable world, Beijing must use its growing strength to maintain international law.”In an attempt to pressurize Beijing, the European Union has banned trade with a fleet of Chinese firms on charges of Moscow’s war attempt. But European Union officials admitted that they have failed to move Beijing that sees it as its important strategic partnership with Moscow.
