New Delhi: The Center is preparing to start the process to remove Justice Yashwant Verma of the Allahabad High Court, in which there are plans to collect signatures of members of Parliament (MPs) in the coming days, Union Minister Kiren Riju on Thursday told reporters as per PTI. Major opposition parties have allegedly approved their principle to support the move, indicating a rare bilateral agreement on the matter.Rijiju said, “We are yet to decide whether the proposal will be brought to the Lok Sabha or Rajya Sabha,” Rijiju said, in view of that the number of 100 MPs for the Lok Sabha and 50 MPs for the Rajya Sabha – will be collected after taking a decision once. The government aims to table the proposal during the monsoon session, which runs from 21 July to 21 August.Justice Verma came under investigation at his official residence in Delhi after a fire incident in March this year, then handed over to the Delhi High Court. Blaze discovered a large amount of cash -filled sacks. He was later returned to his parents’ cadre in the Allahabad High Court, where he has not been assigned any judicial work.According to PTI, Chief Justice of the then India Sanjeev Khanna recommended the removal of Verma in a letter addressed to the President and the Prime Minister after submitting his report on 4 May. However, this report has not been made public.In an earlier PTI report, several MPs questioned during a meeting of a parliamentary committee as to why no FIR was filed on cash collection and Swift had demanded government action. Some people called for the code of conduct, including the later “cooling-band” periods of judges, which can accept subsequent assignments of retirement. Others cited the decision of Veerwamy vs. India, stating that pre -approval was required to prosecute judges sitting under anti -corruption laws.Parliamentary Affairs Minister Rijiju said that the government was eager to ensure a joint political front. “This includes corruption in the judiciary. We want all the parties to be on the board,” he said.Only two impeachment pace has been initiated against judges in India – Justice V. Ramaswamy and Justice Saumitra Sen in 2011. Neither was removed as a result. The Center is now ready to try the third.
