Kedarnath alone, who was recording more than 20,000 visitors daily, saw a decline in the number of more than 4,000 in recent times. Meanwhile, in Bageshwar, more than 300 families remain at risk due to unstable terrain, especially in Kapkot, where the villagers are demanding that they be evacuated. Diwan Singh, a resident of Kharbagad village, said, “The top hill is collapsing, and the river is erasing the land below. Our village is in the shadow of disaster. We have recently suffered significant damage in the rain and have been left to go anywhere. ,Kapkot SDM Anil Rawat acknowledged the vulnerability of the region. “While the situation is currently under control, the entire region is geologically sensitive. The exact position of Kharbagad will be known only after a wide geological study, will be held soon.”
